Hydrometeorological Research and Forecasting, no. 2 (392)
"Proceedings of the Hydrometcenter of Russia"
Edited by А.А. Аlekseeva, Doctor of Geographical Sciences
The results of studies in various fields of hydrometeorology are presented. Some aspects of forecasting the turbulence intensity for aviation using the values of the eddy dissipation rate are analyzed. A possibility of refining the identification of squalls based on the DMRL-C radar network data is investigated, and the features of forecasting surface wind gusts during the cold season are also considered. The cases of severe heat in Krasnoyarsk and their prediction with the WRF-ARW model are analyzed. The reproduction of tidal sea level fluctuations in z- and -models of marine circulation in the Sea of Okhotsk is studied, the results of the comparison of simulations are presented. The methods for forecasting the spring flood characteristics, which were implemented for eight stream gauges on the Ishim, Tobol, and Ural rivers and were used in taking measures to protect the population and economic facilities from floods observed in 2024 are considered. For the Tobol basin rivers, a methodology for daily forecasting of average daily water levels with a lead time of 1 to 10 days and verification results are presented. The analysis of methods for agrometeorological observations of the main agricultural crops and wild plants during 1936–2023 is given. The present issue of the journal is interesting for specialists, postgraduates, and students studying hydrometeorology.
