Hydrometeorological Research and Forecasting, no. 3 (385)
"Proceedings of the Hydrometcenter of Russia"
Edited by A.A. Vasiliev, Doctor of Geographical Sciences
The present issue contains the results of the studies in various fields of hydrometeorological forecasting. The elements of the theory of verification of the radar nowcasting of significant precipitation areas with an application to forecasts in the warm and cold periods of 2017–2018 are presented. The analysis of the winter synoptic process with strong wind in the Belgorod region is of interest to meteorologists forecasting severe weather events. The paper containing the spatiotemporal distribution of precipitation over the Central and Western Pamirs will attract attention of specialists studying regional changes and climate fluctuations. For the Far Eastern region of Russia, an algorithm has been developed for the operational detection of potential fog areas based on the Himawari-8 geostationary satellite data. The section of hydrological forecasting presents the results of testing methods for short-range forecasting of the flow of the Kama basin rivers based on independent data. The section of agrometeorological forecasts describes an approach to modeling soil moisture reserves by neural ordinary differential equations. The final paper presents the results of improving the technology for forecasting meteorological parameters and conditions affecting air pollution.
