Hydrometeorological Research and Forecasting, no. 3 (377)
"Proceedings of the Hydrometcenter of Russia"
Edited by N.A. Zaytseva, Doctor of Geographical Sciences; A.I. Strashnaya, PhD in Geography
The journal contains the results of studies in various fields of hydrometeorology related to marine and agrometeorological forecasts, concentrations of surface ozone and nitrogen dioxide in big cities. A review of studies of wind waves in the Arctic seas on various spatial and temporal scales is presented. The characteristics of changes in waves due to a significant Arctic sea ice loss in the recent decades are given. The results of hydrodynamic modeling of surges in the Caspian Sea using the ADCIRC model for the period from 1979 to 2017, including catastrophic upsurges in March 1995 and March 2015, are presented. Possible mechanisms for the occurrence of extremely high waves in the Baltic Sea are considered. There is a number of papers on agrometeorology, which analyze conditions for the formation of grain and leguminous crops based on satellite and ground data for the subjects of the Volga, North Caucasian, and Southern federal districts. The ARM-Agroprognoz automated system adapted for the Central Administration for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring is presented. The journal ends with Urban Meteorology section about the variability of seasonal and daily concentrations of surface ozone and nitrogen dioxide in big cities.
The journal is of interest not only for specialists, but also for a wide range of readers interested in practical hydrometeorology, ecology and climate change.
