January 1, 2020 marks the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the Hydrometcentre of Russia. The present issue of the journal contains articles on the main directions of research and operational-forecasting activities of the State Scientific Center of the Russian Federation — the Hydrometeorological Research Center of the Russian Federation (Hydrometcentre of Russia).
The results of fundamental and applied studies of hydrometeorological processes carried out in the recent decade, as well as prospects for the development of methods and technologies of hydrometeorological forecasting in order to improve the provision of population and economy of Russia with hydrometeorological information and forecasts, including warnings about adverse and severe weather phenomena, are considered.
The journal is intended for specialists of research and operational-forecasting organizations of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, other departments, teachers, graduate students, students of relevant specialties, and readers interested in the problems of hydrometeorology.
