Hydrometeorological Research and Forecasting, no. 4 (370)
"Proceedings of the Hydrometcenter of Russia"
Edited by A.A. Vasiliev
Summaries - (PDF)
The present issue of the journal presents the results of studies of real hydrometeorological parameters which affect the skill of hydrodynamic and synoptic forecasts. Some papers deal with the account of circulation and energy characteristics of the atmosphere, with the analysis of formation and development of the positive anomaly of total ozone over Russia, with the mean characteristics of low visibility conditions at the aerodromes in the Asian part of Russia as well as with the technology for short-range forecasting of tropical cyclones in the Northwest Pacific. Two papers consider the problems of long-range forecasting, in particular, the consensus meteorological seasonal forecasting in the framework of the North Eurasian Climate Outlook Forum and the account of long-term trends in atmospheric processes for improving the forecast for 1–3 months in the Kara Sea. The influence of observation network configuration on the accuracy of long-term forecasts of river runoff and the effect of sea ice on tidal oscillations of sea level and currents in the Barents and White seas.
The present issue may be useful for a wide range of readers, especially for those dealing with the problems of hydrometeorological forecasting.
